Chandling, Bunkering & Stevedoring

Ship supply, fuel and water bunkering, and gangs for loading and discharge.

Chandling covers provisions, stores and spares delivered to the vessel on schedule. Bunkering is quantity agreed in writing against an agreed density before delivery, because that is the assumption disputes are usually traced back to. Stevedoring is gangs and equipment matched to the discharge plan and the number of hatches actually being worked.

Damage and shortage are recorded at the point they occur, with the tally signed at the time.
