The mode is chosen from what is actually moving: containerised freight on trailers, bulk on tippers, project cargo on low-beds. Route and vehicle are matched to weight, dimension and destination before the booking is confirmed, which is where most inland delays are avoided.

Movements are tracked against a plan with an expected arrival, so a delay is a phone call rather than a discovery.
